June 6 2008 A month and a half and no updates? What gives? Well kids, your fearless rockers have been toiling away at the Chores Music Reasearch and Development Labortories working up a whole new batch of songs and putting the finishing touches on some standards in preparation for some recording sessions. April 1 2008 We didn't make it to San Jose, but still had an awesome time in California. Great bands, sunny weather, hot tubbin' in the Hollywood Hills (yes friends, Chores does indeed live the rock n' roll life style)... what's not to like? So. Cal. traffic, that's what. Next time you're driving from San Francisco to San Diego go through Las Vegas, you'll save time. Trust us. Also, we're playing with Swallows and Kusikia on Thursday April 3rd at Backspace. Rock out AND level up your Dark Elf Mage! March 20 2008 Do you know the way to San Jose? We don't either, but we will be playing shows in Oakland, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Ole! February 7 2008 Rolling around on a waterbed drinking Cristal, that's what Chores is doing. Read all about it. February 6 2008 Crawdaddy reviewed our San Francisco show here. We got back from our first tour earlier this week, and it was so awesome and exhausting that it took me four days to be able to write this little note. We rocked 'em in Eugene, socked 'em in SF, and did some shock and awe in Davis. What a time! Our CD got reviewed in the California Aggie, check it out here. And don't forget we're playing next friday Feb 8th for FREE at the Someday Lounge with Ferocious Eagle, H is for Hellgate, and Klikitat. January 17 2008 Hey Eugene! Go pick up your new copy of the Oregon Daily Emerald and read an interview with Chores! Plus we just added some more tour dates: an all-ages show in Port Townsend Sat Feb 23rd with Spencer Tucker(former Buffalo Voice) and a bunch of other bands at the Boiler Room, and our late March tour of Southern California keeps coming together with our show at LA's Mr. T's Bowl with Discount Cruise to HELL! + TBA. January 14 2008 Happy New Year! Chores is busy busy busy getting ready for a short jaunt down to the Bay Area. Eugene, Davis, and San Francisco are on the agenda. We'll finish up on Saturday night in Portland at the Towne Lounge with good friends Old Growth and Les Flaneurs Chores hopes to see you wherever we are! December 2 2007 First of all, we'd like to thank EVERYONE that came to our CD release show last Thursday. It was totally bonkers and we had an absolute blast! To wit: the evening ended with Alan Singley dancing around in front of the stage with his acoustic guitar singing about pie and then inviting all the bands around him for a massive group hug. It was fantastic! We'd also like to thank everyone that joined us onstage, including Brian Garvey, Toussaint Perrault, Lisa Maurine, and Sarah Winchester and all the people that made the show possible including Sam Schauer, Dylan McConnell, Bark, Hide and Horn, Alan Singley and Pants Machine and all the fine folks at Holocene. Also thanks to Cat Tyc who helped us with the video projections. If you couldn't make it to the show, you can still get a copy of our CD through various channels: 1. Music Millenium 2. CD Baby 3. iTunes 4. Come to one of our shows And, in case you missed it, we got some press! The Oregonian had some nice things to say here, the Willy Week said some stuff here (scroll down about half way), and the Mercury gave us BIG LOVE here and also named us "Band of the Week" at www.portlandmercury.com. If you feel like chiming in, go to the Chores CD Baby page and post your own review about "Life is Hard." Thanks again! We love you all! Sincerely, CHORES November 23 2007 Happy Buy Nothing Day! We hope everyone is fat and sleepy from all the turkey/tofurky that they ate yesterday. Our new EP "Life is Hard" got reviewed in the Oregonian. Read it Here! If you click on the second link in the "Fact Box" you can see that Bob Ham gave our CD a "B". That's above average. 4 out of 5 stars. Not too shabby. The only fact he got wrong was that Jada and Lou switch off playing lead and rhythm guitar, so don't underestimate Jada's hot licks, or Lou's ability to hold it down and play the boring stuff. Also, so you can decide for yourself whether our lyrics are substantive or not, we've finally added lyrics to the website. This just went up, and we'll be adding more lyrics over the next few days. November 6 2007 Hello fine people! Chores has been busy, busy, busy! First up, we're celebrating the release of our very first ever debut premiere EP called "Life is Hard" on November 29th at Holocene! This is hugely exciting for us. Sharing the stage that evening will be none other than Alan Singley and Pants Machine and Bark, Hide, and Horn. AND we'll be giving the CD away FREE to everyone that comes to the show! We've also got a few more things up our sleeves so stay tuned! In order to promote this awesome show we're hitting the airwaves and webwaves! THIS FRIDAY November 9th at midnight (technically Saturday morning, but we all know it's Friday night) we'll be appearing on the Portland Radio Authority on "PC-PDX No Hit Hero" with DJ Sarsaparilla. You can hear that at www.praradio.com. (If you'd like to join us in the studio for this show, hit us at NOSPAM_choresmusic@gmail.com.) Then, on Friday, November 23rd, we're taking the day back from greed and giving it to the freed! We'll be on KPSU at 9pm on the "Now I Am Trendy, Too" show with DJ Ando. We'll do stripped down versions of a couple songs (read: no drums) and talk a little about the CD release party. You can tune into KPSU at 1450AM or, if you're near the PSU campus, 98.3 FM. If neither of those suit you, you can listen live via the web at http://kpsu.org/. Both of these shows are a great opportunity for those of you outside the Portland area to get a little taste of what the Chores live show is like. As if all this excitement weren't enough, Chores has been working on new material and planning to take the show on the road in January! It's our first tour EVER!
